Good lighting defines the mood and flow of a modern home. In this Slovakian project, by our lighting partner D-light, Dea Carmenta M and Dea Cura S show how lighting defines the structure, softens surfaces and guides the eye.
Find inspiration for your next home project with these three lighting tips.
1. Combine general and accent lighting with adjustable spots.
Lighting can unify a space and add dynamic accents at the same time. Dea Carmenta M provides both general and directional accent lighting in this project.
Installed in the kitchen and near built-in wardrobes, its 25° tilt and 40° beam angle brings clean ambient light while also allowing precise highlighting of surfaces and materials.
Adjustable optics put the direction of light fully in your hands, creating rhythm without adding visual clutter.
2. Use recessed spots in walls for flexible, targeted lighting.
Recessed adjustable luminaires are not limited to ceilings. In this project, Dea Cura S is installed in the wall next to the bed. It’s featuring 90° tilt and full 360°rotation, providing flexible lighting exactly where it is needed.
The adjustable optics allow to aim for soft, indirect ambient light or to direct the beam, for example, for reading.
Wall-integrated spots offer a clean, minimalist alternative to bedside lamps, freeing up space and keeping the design calm and streamlined.
Using recessed spots in walls adds both functionality and flexibility to modern homes.
3. Prioritise low-glare lighting for everyday comfort.
Glare control is key to creating a relaxing home environment. Both Dea Carmenta M and Dea Cura S use deep reflectors to hide the light source and soften its impact.
This approach ensures smooth, low-glare lighting that complements natural materials and matte finishes. In minimalist interiors, reduced glare improves visual comfort and enhances the architecture itself.
Lighting for modern homes should be soft, structured and carefully directed. This project shows how thoughtful lighting design elevates contemporary living.
