What’s behind the CE marking on a luminaire?
The CE mark on a luminaire shows that it follows key EU rules for safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and material use. It does not measure quality but confirms that the product meets minimum legal standards under several European Directives.
For lighting fixtures like Dea Eros S PE, this includes full compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU). This directive ensures electrical safety for users and installers. Standards such as EN 60598-1 (for general safety), EN 61347 (for drivers), and EN 62471 (for light safety) apply. These cover heat resistance, insulation, wiring, and protection of the light source.
The Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2014/30/EU) is also key. It controls how products behave with electromagnetic signals. EN 55015 and EN 61547 check that the luminaire does not cause or suffer from interference. This is important in spaces with sensitive systems.
In addition, all CE-marked luminaires must meet the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU + updates). This rule limits hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and some flame retardants. It supports both user safety and environmental goals — which matter in every lighting project.

Each product page on our website includes the CE Declaration of Conformity — a document that confirms compliance with the required EU directives. This should not be confused with a “CE certificate,” which does not exist for most lighting products. In general lighting, the manufacturer is responsible for issuing the declaration after internal testing and documentation. Only certain product types require third-party certification.
